While GPS can be a great tool (or just a fun one if you're into Geo-caching) if you get to the point of depending too much on technology you could get yourself into trouble. For that reason I have pretty much deferred on being part of the GPS generation preferring instead to acquire map-reading and orienteering skills that will work when all else fails. I'm not saying you shouldn't take advantage of GPS and similar technologies, but merely that you also have a Plan 'B' in case they fail.
