Just like Katrina... Just like Haiti... This is an illustration of why you need to have water supplies and a way to purify water. And not all stored in one place (in case your house collapses). A flat or two of water stored in your car might be a good situation along with a portable purification system, as you'll eventually run out no matter how much you store.
